Suggested Uses: Wintergreen is a creeping evergreen plant grows well in sandy or rocky areas. The foliage is aromatic and has the fragrance of wintergreen. An excellent addition to a woodland rock garden! Grows well under evergreens.
Native Range: Native to the Great Lakes, the Northeast and Appalachia. Native to northeastern Minnesota.
Pollinators/Habitat: Pollinated by bumble bees. The berries are a great winter food source for birds and mammals.
Flowers: Tiny, drooping, vase-like flowers. The fruit is a bright-red berry.
Leaves: The leaves are evergreen, alternate and around 1″ long.
