Suggested Uses: This grass grows well on a variety of soils types and sun exposures. It is a great grass for erosion control and streambank stabilization. Like most Elymus species, it establishes quickly and fades out after a few years as slower-growing grasses establish. Reseeds readily. It is a nice addition to shoreline restorations and shaded rain gardens. Bold and interesting seed heads. Grows well under evergreens.

Native Range: Native to the eastern half of the U.S.

Wildlife Value: The plant matter is used as denning material. It provides good forage for wildlife and livestock.
