Suggested Uses: This native sedge has aggressive rhizomes, but is excellent for shoreline restoration where erosion is an issue. Very useful!
Native Range: Native to the Midwest and New England. Native throughout the state of Minnesota except for the Southwest corner.
Wildlife Value: Carex lacustris benefits several butterfly species in Minnesota including skippers and browns. Carex spp. are excellent an source of food for a variety of birds including both songbirds and waterfowl.
