Flowers: The 1" flower droops below the leaves. It has 3 petals, 3 sepals and 6 stamens. It produces a 3-sided capsule.
Leaves: The opposite oblong leaves are perforated by the stem, that is the stem seems to pass through the leaves. This plant can form colonies and makes a nice ground cover.

Suggested Uses:

This wildflower hides itself beneath it's foliage but is a worthy woodland wildflower in a woodland garden or setting. It's bright yellow flowers seem to be somewhat shy to reveal themselves, but if you look a little closer they have such beauty!

Interesting Facts

Medicinal Uses: They were once used as a remedy for sore throat since the flower dangled like the uvula in the back of our throats.
