Flowers: The flower heads are made up of many tiny tube-like flowers with single lobed upper lips and 3 lobed lower lips. They have 4 stamens and lilac anthers and a single long white style per flower.
Leaves: The opposite leaves are long and narrow.

 

Suggested Uses:

This is an excellent plant for a large rain garden. It is also useful for shoreline restoration. The leaves of this plant have a minty aroma when crushed and has been used for making tea. It is a good plant for attracting butterflies and beneficial insects.

 

Interesting Facts:

Medicinal Uses: Used as an energizing tonic. Once though to prevent rabies when applied to animal bites.
Food Uses: The fresh or dried leaves can be made into tea.
