Flowers: The flower 3/4" heads are spherical have a honey-like odor.
Leaves: The clasping leaves are 3' long and have soft thorns along the edge.

 

Suggested Uses:

These are an unusual and very interesting addition to the flower garden or restoration project. They make a great  conversation piece in any garden. The flowers or seed heads add a lot of interest to the cut or dried flower bouquet! A favorite of many!!

 

Interesting Facts:

Medicinal Uses: It gets its name from the fact that a tea from its roots was used to treat rattlesnake bites. It was also used to treat bladder and kidney problems. Another use was as an aphrodisiac.

More Information:  This plant grows native in southern Minnesota.
Name: Eryngium is derived from Greek for "prickly plant" but they are not prickly.
