Soil: Hydric (Moist) to Xeric (Dry)
Sun: Full - Part
Height: 5'
Type: Cool season, perennial, bunch grass.

Suggested Uses:

This grass prefers moister soils and is a good plant for shoreline restoration and rain gardens. It does well in part shade. The seed stalks are a pretty addition to dried flower bouquets.

Interesting Facts:

Wildlife Uses: It provides nesting, cover, and food for wildlife.
Crop Uses: Canada wild rye is a decent forage grass early in the season, but looses value as it matures.
More Info: Because it grows quickly, it is often used for erosion control. It can establish itself in the 1st year, and peaks in the 2nd and 3rd years, giving other slower grasses a chance to become established before it fades back the 4th year. A nice landscape plant for a variety of situations!
