Flowers: The 1" flowerhead consists of 3-10 fuzzy 1/4" flowers in a tight group at the end of a single, fuzzy stem. The flowers have female flowers on one branch and the male flowers on another.
Leaves: The basal leaves have long stems called petioles that extend from the base of the plant. They are gray or white underneath and green on top and have three long nerves. Both sides are hairy. The leaves attached to the stem are much smaller. They are alternate and linear to lance-shaped, and are hairy.

Suggested Uses:

This plant is a larval food for the Painted Lady Butterfly! It works very well in rock gardens and is a nice ground cover for dry sandy and gravelly soils. A nice dried everlasting for bouquets.

Medicinal Uses: Once used to treat digestive problems and to ward off sickness after childbirth.
