Suggested Uses:

This native wild rose grows well on sandy and gravelly upland soils. It's aggressive root system is great for holding shoreline and is a good shoreline restoration plant! It does not transplant well and  if dug from the wild only kills the plant! The foliage has beautiful fall colors of reds, oranges and yellows and the bright orange to red rose hips are a splashy addition to a fall bouquet!

Interesting Facts:

Medicinal Uses: Rose-hips contain high amounts of vitamin C.
Food Uses: Petals can be used in salads, to make tea, or candied. The hips can be used for syrup or jam when combined with sour apples or pectin. If no other food source is found, the fleshy exterior of the hips can be eaten raw. They are a good source of vitamin C, but not very tasty.
