Flowers: The 1" flowers are made up of 5 fused petals that form a narrow tube at the center. They grow in flat clusters up to 3" across.

Suggested Uses:

Prairie Phlox is a beautiful upland prairie plant. It has very showy dark pink flowers. It grows on typical garden soil, mesic or sandy and gravelly soils. Great for restoration and nice for the rock garden or other flower beds. Flowers are showy and are very attractive to butterflies!

 

Interesting Facts:

Medicinal Uses: Tea from the leaves has been used internally and externally as an eczema treatment.
Food Uses:
Other Uses: Its roots were an ingredient in love potions.
More Information:
Name: Phlox means "flame" in Greek. Pilosa means "softly hairy" in Latin.
